Epoxy acrylate/maleimide/organoclay nanocomposites by UV curing |

Epoxy acrylate was blended with N-substituted maleimide and N-vinylpyrrolidinone and then were cured by UV irradiation. It was found that this system could be cured by UV without using conventional photoinitiator. The photoinduced polymerization was due to electron donor/acceptor interaction between the N-substituted maleimides acting as acceptor and N-vinylpyrrolidinone acting as a donor. Effect of maleimide content in the system on UV curing behavior and variation of glass transition temperature were investigated by photoDSC and DMA. Organoclay was added into the system to make nanocomposite, and effect of clay content on structure, thermomechanical properties and UV curing behavior of the nanocomposites were examined. |
