Preparation of Substituted Ethyl Cellulose via Filtration Membrane |

Cellulose and its derivatives have the biocompatible and biodegradable properties and have been widely studied for drug delivery system, film-coating materials thickening agents and so forth. Ethyl cellulose(EC), one of the cellulose derivatives, has received considerable attention due to its better solubility for organic solvent and membrane-forming ability. There are some researches focused on pharmaceutical formulations of EC, but relatively little attention has been paid to filtration membrane. In the present work, we attempt to suggest modified ethyl cellulose which substituted hydroxyl groups for poly(ethylene glycol) monomethyl ether as membrane material. Antifouling properties of this membrane are also discussed. |
