In this study, a heterogeneous cation exchange membrane was prepared by mixing ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and commercial cation exchange resin to determine the optimum preparation conditions and to compare the properties of this material to those of a commercial membrane. Effect of vinyl acetate (VA) content, melt index (MI) and ion exchange resin content on properties of heterogeneous cation exchange membrane was discussed. SEM analysis was conducted to confirm the morphology of the prepared membrane. Water uptake, swelling ratio, electrical resistance and tensile strength have been measured as functions of mentioned factors. Application test in MCDI process was perform to investigate the availability of the membrane in practice process. |
