Crystal morphology and molecular orientations of a semi-conducting organic molecule, 2,8-difluoro-5,11-bis(triethylsiylethynyl)-anthradithiophene (diF-TESADT), were studied using spectroscopic techniques. Mixtures of diF-TESADT with liquid crystals were studied in order to apply the mixture as a semi-conducting material in organic thin film transistors. Raman spectroscopy was used to study molecular orientations of LC mixtures of semiconducting diF-TESADT, and UV/Vis spectroscopy was employed to understand the aggregation state of diF-TESADT in the blends. The crystal state and molecular arrangements of diF-TESADT with LC were monitored using 2D-GIXD. In order to find out atomic compositions of the blend films along thickness direction, XPS were carried out for the films. To obtain electrical properties of OTFT devices, diF-TESADT/LC242 mixtures were spin coated to form a blend film which was used as an active layer of OTFT with bottom-gate/top-contact structure. |
