In the field of organic field-effect transistors, more than a decade of research focused on increasing the crystallinity of conjugated polymers to improve charge transport, which exceeded the benchmark performance of amorphous silicon. Here, we report high mobility up to 7.25 cm2 V-1 s-1 can be obtained in novel statistical terpolymers based on diketopyrrolopyrrole, outperforming highly ordered crystalline organic semiconductors. Detailed structure-property investigations covering physical properties, morphology, and thin-film transistor performance with respect to the structural variation in the terpolymers are performed. In addition, the statistical terpolymers provide superior processability in non-toxic, environmentally-friendly solvent (e.g., 2-methyl tetrahydrofuran) due to their irregular sequential structure, offering important scientific insights into developing highly efficient and eco-friendly plastic transistors but also advancing their commercialization. |
