Stem cells can differentiate into other mature cells and hold considerable potential as crucial factors for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. To regulate stem cell abilities such as differentiation into the specific types of mature cells and growth factor secretion, we design a new conceptual scaffold that can directly interface with cells into nanospike arrays. The elaborately designed nanospike arrays were fabricated using capillary force lithography and biocompatible hydrogel polymers. Stem cells integrated into the nanospike patch promoted osteogenic, chondrogenic, and adipogenic differentiation and growth factor secretion. The bone regeneration of cranial bone defected animal model was significantly accelerated. In addition, the nanospike arrays showed strong anti-biofilm activity by damaging the bacteria membrane. Thus, we proposed that the elaborately designed nanospike arrays-based scaffold may have great potential for stem cells-based therapy. |
