Toughness and Conductive Characteristic of Epoxidized Vegetable Oils/Epoxy Nanocomposites Reinforced with Carbon nanotubes |

In this study, the epoxidized vegetable oils (EVO) were synthesized using soybean oils and castor oils. The effect of carbon nanotubes on toughness and conductive characteristic of EVO/epoxy nanocomposites reinforced with carbon nanotubes was studied. Carbon nanotubes were modified using a mixture of concentrated nitric acids (HNO3) and sulphuric acids (H2SO4) in a ratio of 1:3 to improve its interfacial adhesion to EVO/epoxy matrix. The toughness of the nanocomposites was investigated through the critical stress intensity factor (KIC) measurement. Electric resistance of the nanocomposites was tested using a 4-point-probe electric resistivity tester. |
