The microcapsule is one of the most useful devices to release active ingredient in more effective, longer, and safer manner. In this study, pH-sensitive hydrogel microcapsules were synthesized by emulsion-interfacial reaction. Hydrophilic polymers, such as poly(acrylic acid), were employed as the wall material of microcapsules. Semi-IPN structure of microcapsule kept not only a mechanical strength, but also possibility to show stimuli-response. FT-IR and DSC were used to confirm the presence of the hydrogen bond. Morphology and particle size were studied by optical microscopy and SEM. The swelling behavior of the hydrogel microcapsules was studied in the buffer solutions of several different pH’s. The semi-IPN microcapsules had good pH-sensitivity in the basic pH range. |
