Titania (TiO2) has been very attractive for many important applications, e.g., as photocatalysts reversible superhydrophobic surface, lithium batteries, mesoporous membranes for ultrafiltration. Colloidal templating has been widely applied because it provides facile control of pore size. But this method only produce low volume fraction of titania, that is weak mechanical strength. In order to solve this problem, we develop additional liquid phase deposition to increase wall thickness. We found that subsequent deposition of titania precursor formed nanocrystalline titania particles on the wall. The formation of nanocrystalline titania can be finely tuned by controlling the concentration of reactants and duration the reaction. The post-treatment enhances surface-to-volume ratio by increasing surface roughness. The volume fraction can be controlled by the deposition time. |
