Molecular conformation of 2,3-Bis(4-(2,3-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)quinoxalin-6-yloxy) phenyl)quinoxaline-6-carboxylic acid ([G2-DPQ]-CO2H : G2) and 2,3-Bis(4-(2,3-bis(4-(2,3-bis(4-methoxy phenyl)quinoxalin-6-yloxy)phenyl)quinoxalin-6-yloxy)phenyl)quinoxaline-6-carboxylic acid ([G3-DPQ]-CO2H : G3) at the air-water interface have been investigated by Langmuir-Blodgett technique, AFM, UV-vis spectroscopy, and XRR. At the air-water interface, Gn molecules showed a different self-assembly behavior as surface pressure increases due to the different size of hydrophobic group. G2 molecules have a small hydrophobic group and strong rigidity. The core group of G2 molecules can be anchored on the water surface and G2 molecules are at a slight tilt at 0.5mN/m. Then G2 molecules form small domains at compression of 1mN/m. It’s due to the difference in hydrophobicity between the core group and peripheral end group. Since 5mN/m, G2 align highly straightly and form a close-packed arrangement. |
