Optimal Plasmonic Au and Ag Nanoparticles for Prevention of Metal Aggregation in Dye-sensitized Solar Cells |

Nanoparticles (NPs) are commonly used as strategy to increase light harvesting in solar cells. Herein, Au and Ag are found to be promising to increase the absorbance of N719 dye due to the increment of stability and reduction of metal aggregation. The improvement of optical absorbance conditions of DSSCs by Au NPs and Ag NPs enhances light harvesting and power conversion energy. The power conversion efficiency with Au NPs increased from 8.82% to 9.53%. In the case of plasmonic Ag NPs, power conversion efficiency increased from 8.82% to 9.33%. Au NPs and Ag NPs are combined and show a higher improvement of power conversion efficiency of 10.17%, corresponding to a 15.31% enhancement. |
