Poly(caprolactone-b-ethylene glycol-b-caprolactone) (PCL-PEG-PCL) triblock copolymer aqueous solutions undergoing sol-gel-sol transition as the temperature increases were developed. This material is promising for biomedical applications because it shows little syneresis through the gel phase and a large gel modulus (10,000 ~ 20,000 Pa). In addition, the powder form of the polymer is comfortable in handling and gives a facile lyophilization/reconstitution cycle. The model low molecular weight drug and protein drug formulations and their drug delivery characteristics were investigated using the thermogelling PCL-PEG-PCL triblock copolymer aqueous solutions. |
