Chemical Composition and Bioactive Properties of Herbal Honey |

This study examined to the development of novel medicine for atopic dermatitis treatment using herbal honey harvested in the Jirisan (Korea). The contents of moisture in the herbal honey were 19 .0 ~ 20.5 %. HPLC results showed that the sugar composition of herbal honey were composed fructose, glucose and sucrose, and contents of these were 36.0~41.5%, 26.0~38% and 3.0~7.0%, respectively. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) was examined various concentration against bacteria and fungi. The MIC showed that its values against the bacteria and fungi were 1.25 ~ 5 μg/mL and 5 ~ 10 μg/mL, respectively. Based on these results, it is possible to introduction of herbal honey into biomedical fields such as atopic dermatitis treatment. |
