Amphiphilic block copolymers are well established for the preparation of micellar drug carriers and temperature-sensitive copolymers of PEG and polyester have been studied by many researchers. One of the methods to modify the properties of block copolymers is to introduce the segments possesses a lower critical solution temperature (LCST). Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) is water-soluble below its LCST, while its aqueous solution results in phase separation above the LCST. Amphiphilic block copolymer showed sol-gel transition, and copolymers of (PLGA-PEG)MA macromonomer and NIPAAm were synthesized to investigate the effect of PNIPAAm contents on sol-gel transition behavior. (PLGA-PEG)MA macromonomer was prepared by ring opening polymerization of DL-lactide and glycolide with PEGMA. The molecular weight and chemical structure of PNIPAAm containing block copolymers with various compositions were obtained from GPC and NMR, and sol-gel transition was tested by tube-tilting method. |
