A lot of methods giving polymers self-healing ability have been investigated. Capsule/matrix system, for example, is the earliest strategy. Additionally, Diels-alder reaction, Disulfide bond, hydrogen bond, and π‒π interaction can be used to provide polymers with self-healing ability. Herein, dynamic urea bond, as a one of the dynamic covalent bonds, was used to facilitate self-healing ability. Poly (t-butylaminoethyl methacrylate-r-methyl methacrylate-r-butyl acrylate) was synthesized by free radical polymerization and followed by crosslink reaction with diisocyanate. The equilibrium state of dynamic urea bond can be easily changed by adjusting temperature according to principle of Le Chatelier, i.e. self-healing. The self-healing ability was measured about single scratch, multi scratch, and tensile strength. And we demonstrated that these self-healing polymers have potential values for artificial vessel or other medical device. (Grant No: 10067082, MOTIE) |
