Hydrocolloids are widely used in the field of wound dressing since they can absorb body fluids. The initial hydrocolloid has not integrated, therefore it becomes to a soft amorphous gel when it comes into contact with the exudate that leads to disadvantage of leaving a residue on the wound after dressing removal. The plasticizer used to overcome this is added, but the plasticizer is irritating. In order to overcome disadvantage caused by plasticizers, we developed a hydrocolloid system which the rubber is connected it self instead of the commonly used mobile plasticizer. Therefore, a hydrocolloid system can be evaluated as a wound dressing. |
