Poly (butylene terephthalate) (PBT) and polyamide-6,12 (Nylon 6,12) were extruded with a core-shell single extruder. The core-shell filaments were compression-molded at the temperature between the melting point of PBT and Nylon 6,12. The PBT/Nylon 6,12 core-shell filament the thermal properties, the morphology, the mechanical properties and crystallization could be obtained. By using SEM analyses we were able to show that the Nylon 6,12 phase and PBT phase coalesced during melt spinning which led to the development of fibrillar morphology. |
