제목 Fabrication of Zirconium carbide nanofiber precursors by electrospinning
초록 Zirconium carbide (ZrC) is known as the hardest compounds with microhardness value of ~2600 kg/mm2. ZrC are usually synthesized by reacting powder mixtures of carbon and metal, metal hydride, or metal oxide. In these cases, high temperatures are required for the carbide forming reactions because the powders are mixed together on a relatively coarse scale(e.g., micrometer-scale). ZrC can be synthesized at lower temperatures by using precursors that have been prepared by solution-based processing methods. Solution-based processing also has the advantage of fine-scale (molecular-level) mixing of reactants that can be used to produce thin films, powders and fibers. In this work, we prepared ZrC carbide nanofiber precursors by electrospinning to mixed solution of zirconium acetyl acetonate (for zirconia source) and phenol resin (for carbon source). The optimized conditions of electrospinning were investigated.
