Novel multifunctional layer using metal salt for efficient n-type organic field effect transistor |
초록 |
A novel solution processable functional layer based on cesium carbonate (Cs2CO3) metal salt is introduced as an interlayer in n-type organic field effect transistors (OFETs) using [6,6]-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PC61BM) semiconductor as an active layer. The layer results in significantly improved performance and lifetime of the devices. Dipole moments in Cs2CO3 layer give rise to lowering energy barrier for charge injection, resulting in reducing contact resistance between semiconductor and metal electrodes. The devices with the passivation layer show no significant performance change in ambient air comparing to the devices without the layer, which were severely degraded with time. The extended device life span is attributed to close-packed crystalline structure of Cs2CO3 metal salt that efficiently prevents penetration of oxygen into the active layer. X-ray diffraction (XRD) data shows well-defined crystalline structure of the Cs2CO3 thin film formed on the active layer. |
