Conjugated polymer patterns play important roles in electronics as well as in bio engineering. To this end, we examined etching-less direct patterning of conjugated polymers to afford micropatterns. Micropatterning of conjugated polymers facilitated charge transport in an electrochemical device, enhancing electro-optical response. The micropatterning of conjugated polymers into a periodic array on the length scale of the visible light wavelength resulted in the creation of a diffraction grating. We have introduced a strategy by which reversible diffraction can be achieved by fabricating gratings from electrochromic polymers displaying dynamic diffraction behavior. This advance also applied to optical properties for the emission control. Micro-patterning method, electrochemical, optical, and electro-optical control of patterned conjugated polymers will be discussed. |
