Synthesis and Characterization of Perfluoropolyether Lubricant |

Perfluoropolyether(PFPEs) have been known as a high-performance lubricants for corrosive environments. In this study, we report on the polymerization of hexafluoropropylene oxide(HFPO) using monofunctional catalyst, decarbonylation of PFPE, separation of decarbonylated PFPE, and its thermal property. The molecular weight of PFPE was calculated by 19F nuclear magnetic resonance (19F-NMR) and gel permeation chromatography using 1,1,2-trichlorotrifluroethane (Freon-113) as mobile phase. The conversion of acyl fluoride into decarbonylated PFPE (fluorine-end-capped PFPE) was estimated by 19F-NMR. The detailed experimental results for polymerization of HFPO and decarbonylation of PFPE will be described. |
