Miniemulsion polymerization of styrene containing condensation polymers in water |

Most industrial polymers are mainly produced either by polycondensation or radical polymerization. The blends of polycondensation/radical polymerized polymers are important materials especially for packaging applications such as ABS/PC. However, it is difficult to achieve perfectly miscible blends due to their poor compatibility in microscale. In this study, a new approach is suggested to obtain a polyester/polystyrene blend system having an enhanced miscibility in molecular scale. The blend was synthesized by miniemulsion polymerization of styrene containing polyester. The various thermal and morphological properties as well as polymerization behavior are investigated. |
