Recently, coaxially skin-core structured nanofibers have been paid much attention due to their unique properties. In the co-axial nanofibers, the core polymer can serve as a template for the skin material, leading to cable like nanofiber structure. There have been a lot of reports on electrospun poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) nanofibers mixed with inorganic nanomaterials. In this work, we studied on co-axial PVA nanofibers containing ZrO2 via co-axial electrospinning using PVA solution and PVA/ZrO2 blend solution, respectively. Both PVA solution and PVA/ZrO2 blended solution were electrospun simultaneously using co-axial dual needle tips. We investigated the spinnability and the morphology change for forming PVA/ZrO2 composite nanofibers with skin-core structure.
