제목 An Energy Efficient Reactive Distillation Configuration for 2-methoxy-2-methylheptane process
초록 The study reveals the possibility of reactive distillation in the 2-methoxy-2-methylheptane (MMH) production process. Traditionally, MMH is obtained by carrying out the reaction in the reactor followed by three distillation columns. The high yield of MMH could be achieved by keeping the large reactor size or by using large excess of MH. Both former and latter strategies are associated with the high capital and operating costs. To solve these problems, this study proposed an innovative RD configuration that integrates reactor and column in to single shell. This integrated RD column allows the production of MMH with significantly lower capital and operating costs. For desired MMH yield, the result demonstrate that the RD configuration coupled with heat integration can reduced up to 28 % total annual cost as compared to a conventional process.
