제목 Neuronal Differentiation of Adult Rat Bone Marrow Derived Stem Cells
초록 Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that displaying a high degree of self-renewal and differentiation potential and can be isolated from a mammalian tissues and organs. Especially, bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) are multipotent stem cells that can be differentiated into mesenchymal cell types such as chondrocytes, osteoblasts, adipocytes, and muscle cells by controlling cytokines in culture medium. In this study, we report that adult rat bone marrow stem cells can be induced to differentiate into neurons, potentially their usefulness in the treatment of neuronal disease. It was observed that cytoplasm in the flat rat bone marrow stem cells retracted towards the nucleus, forming a contracted multipolar cell body and process-like extensions peripherally. Also, cells expressed the neuronal marker NSE and NF. In conclusion, these results were evidence of neuronal differentiation from rat bone marrow stem cells.
