Synthesis and Characterization of Polypyrrolidone |

At the meeting synthesis and characterization of polypyrrolidone will be discussed. The transformation of 2-pyrolliodone (2-py) to polypyrrolidone (nylon 4) was performed by anionic ring-opening of 2-py. Both bulk and suspension polymerization techniques were employed and the effects of experimental variables on polymerization were investigated. The investigated variables were monomer to catalyst ratio, kinds of activator, reaction time, and reaction temperature. Molecular weight information and thermal characterization data of nylon 4 will be provided. |
