Synthesis of Biocompatible Manganese ferrite Nanocrystals for Conjugation with Cell Targeting Agents |

Preparation of biocompatible water dispersible superparamagnetic manganese ferrite (MnFe2O4) nanocrystals by one-pot thermal decomposition reaction of metal acetylacetonate precursor was studied. Polyethylene glycol diacid was used as a steric stabilizer and surface capping agent. We have achieved these carboxylic acid functionalized nanocrystals coupled with 9-aminoacridine and folic acid using carbodiimide. Based on this exploration, we believe this novel synthetic approach will pave a new way for the preparation of water-soluble MnFe2O4 nanocrystals and provide a potential candidate of high quality nano-platform in MR imaging and drug delivery system. |
