Recently, we found that polylactic acid (PLA) nanofiber web, which has been used extensively for biomedical applications, can show piezoelectricity because of the preferentially aligned C=O functional groups by orientation/crystallization induced high DC voltage during electrospinning. Even though BaTiO3 [barium titanate, BT] has great piezoelectricity, it has limited various fabricating processes due to brittle and non-flexible properties. So, using the electrospinning for thin and flexible BT nanoparticles(NPs)-doped PLA nanofiber webs can solve these problems. This BT NPs-doped PLA nanofiber web showed much higher piezoelectricity than the neat PLA nanofiber web. Thus it, as piezoelectric material, can substitute for expensive PVDF or P(VDF-TrFE) nanofiber web. So, in this work, more suitable electrospun conditions for BT NPs-doped PLA nanofiber webs and their applications will be discussed in detail.
