Thermal reversible reaction is attractive and efficient for stimuli-responsive self-healing polymers. Diels-Alder (DA) reaction is one of the most studied thermal reversible reactions for self-healing polymers. Through this study, furan-functionalized poly(2-hydroxy ethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA-f) is synthesized and 1,1′-(Methylenedi-4,1-phenylene)bismaleimide (BM) is used as a cross-linker. Both PHEMA-f and BM are DA reaction reactants and they construct thermal reversible cross-linked networks with repetitive and re-mendable. Synthesized PHEMA-f is confirmed through ¹H-NMR measurements. Adducts’ cross-linking bonds via DA reaction are indicated by FT-IR. According to DSC data, DA reaction temperature between PHEMA-f and BM is about 70°C and retro-DA reaction is happened at 100°C range, respectively. Finally, razor-cuts on samples show self-healing properties after heating at 80°C for various time ranges. |
