We report the synthesis of poly(ethylene oxide)-b-(styrene-alt-maleic anhydride) diblock copolymer for the preparation of non-fouling surfaces on versatile substrates. Inspired by the key component of adhesive proteins in nature, we introduce amine groups into the maleic anhydride units of the polymer backbone. Unlike the limitation on the types of coating substrates and leaching problems of previous coating methods with end-functionalized PEG, we expect to immobilize PEG on various surfaces with good stability and simple dipping method with functionalized diblock copolymers, which can be considered as a new type of PEGylation method on various types of surfaces. |
