Biodegradable star-shaped poly(3-caprolactone)(PCL) with four arms were synthesized by ring-opening polymerization (ROP) from a symmetric pentaerythritol core .Then, shell part was prepared by copolymerizing of poly(methyl methacrylate) and poly(butyl methacrylate) to obtain poly(3-caprolactone) grafted poly(methyl methacrylate-co-butyl methacrylate) (PCL–g-(MMA-co-BMA)). The copolymerization was performed using activator generated by electron transfer for atom transfer radical polymerization (AGET ATRP). The four-arm-cored PCL was prepared as macroinitiator with active bromo end group (PCL–Br). During AGET ATRP, copper (II) chloride (CuCl2) with N,N,N′,N″,N″-pentamethyl-diethylenetriamine (PMDETA) was used as the catalyst system including Sn(oct)2 as reducing agent. Chemical structures were confirmed by 1H NMR and FTIR. Thermal properties were analyzed by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). |
