The acrylic copolymers, which were used as base polymer for pressure sensitive adhesives, were synthesized by solution polymerization of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, and acrylic acid with AIBN as an initiator. Various kinds of acrylic copolymers were prepared by using various different contents of hexa-functional oligomer, dipentaerythritol hexaacrylate, and photo initiator, hydroxy cyclohexyl phenyl ketone. The effect of hexa-functional oligomers on the variation of adhesion characteristics after UV curing was investigated in terms of peel strength, cohesiveness, and probe tack. Both probe tack and peel strength of the acrylic copolymers having higher content of hexa-functional oligomers decreased after UV curing due to the increased degree of crosslinking. On the other hand, cohesiveness increased as the content of hexa-functional oligomers increased. |
