Evaluation on effectiveness for preventing post surgical adhesion of γ-Cyclodextrin-Silk Fivroin / Carboxymethylcellulose (γ-CD/CMC) hydrogel in rat cecum/peritoneum |

Polymeric hydrogels long gave attracted interest for biomaterials applications because of their generally favorable biocompatibility. γ-CD-SF/CMC hydrogels were prepared by reaction of carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) with silk fibroin (SF) capsulated by γ-cyclodextrin (γ-CD). The reaction was carried out in DW by variety concentration γ-CD-SF/CMC (w/w) ratio. The hydrogel formation is based on dehydration condensation reaction induced by self-assembling with no chemical crosslinking reagent involved. The structure of the hydrogels was confirmed with X-ray diffraction and their swelling, degradation, MTT assay and gel strength were measured. The γ-CD-SF/CMC hydrogel resulted in less adhesion than either pure hydrogel and could be used as a physical barrier to prevent abdominal post-operative adhesion during healing. |
