Polyurethane foam (PUF) used as a cushioning and a insulation material is required to have high flame retardancy depending on the application field and environment. Addition of a flame retardant or application of polyisocyanurate (PIR) is performed to improve flame retardancy of flammable PUF. However, in the PUF synthesis process, there is a limit to increase the flame retardancy of PUF due to the limitation of the addition amount of the flame retardant and the PIR production amount. In this study, isocyanurate prepolymer (IRP) was synthesized using TDI and applied as PUF to improve the heat resistancy and flame retardancey of PUF by increasing the specific gravity of isocyanurate ring in PUF. The thermal stability of PUF synthesized by using TDI and IRP respectively were compared and confirmed that the heat resistancy and flame retardancy of PUF using IRP were improved. |
