Preparation and characteristics of rigid polyurethane foams containing carbon dioxide based poly(ether carbonate) polyols |
초록 |
Carbon dioxide (CO2) released as waste in various industry is major cause of global warming issues. In this regard, the utilization of CO2 as a sustainable feedstock for chemical products is attractive research topic. In this study, difunctional and multifunctional CO2-based poly(ether carbonate) (PEC) polyols were successfully prepared by using double metal cyanide catalyst. Difunctional CO2-based PEC polyol successfully replaced ~ 47.2 wt% of conventional petroleum-based polyol in bi-polyol mixture for the preparation of rigid polyurethane foams (RPUFs). The RPUF was also successfully prepared employing multifunctional CO2-based PEC polyol alone. Characteristics of the RPUFs, such as density, compressive strength, thermal conductivity, thermal stability and cell morphology were then investigated, demonstrating the potential of the CO2 conversion pathway as an eco-friendly and sustainable technique to provide industrially important RPUFs. |
