MgO supported Ni catalysts have been widely applied to carbon dioxide reforming (CDR) reaction due to their coke resistance. However, activation of Ni-MgO catalyst consumes considerable energy because of its very high reduction temperature. In this study, ZrO2, CeO2, and CeO2-ZrO2 promoted Ni-MgO catalysts were prepared via a facile co-precipitation method and applied to the CDR reaction. Among the prepared catalysts, the ZrO2-promoted Ni-MgO catalyst showed the highest reduction degree and CH4 conversion. The high catalytic performance of the ZrO2-promoted Ni-MgO catalyst is mainly due to easier reducibility, high Ni dispersion, and high specific surface area. |
