Especially in S. Korea, the concern for safety has dramatically increased due to recent chemical disasters. In many cases of public outcry regarding planned or existing plants or transportation routes, focus shifts to accidents with low expected frequencies and large consequential effects since those accidents have imposed large impacts on society and are expected to do so. Among many research subjects in process safety such as inherently safe design, risk management, complex systems, organizational/human factors, and standardization of process safety methods, consequence analysis is the topic for which it is often possible to realistically collect information because of the use of theoretical models, experimentation and simulation by computation. In this paper, researches are presented regarding process design using consequence analysis. |
