The depletion of fossil fuel reserves and increasing energy demands have encouraged new process development for converting biomass into valuable platform chemicals and renewable fuel components. Therefore, one of promising green platform chemical, we have suggested 5-acetoxymethylfurfural (AMF). Although, 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is also considered as one of the promising green platform chemicals, AMF shows better physical properties derived less hydrophilic acetoxymethyl group wich make easy separation and purification possible. Therefore, with the importance of AMF in minde, we have newly devised efficient one-pot synthetic process of AMF from fructose using ionic liquid as a reaction media which could be simply resued several times. |
