In recent years, there has been a significant interest on various biochar applications to solve the key problems existing in various lab-scale bioprocesses as well as upcoming industrial bioprocesses includes food industries, biofuel, agro-industries etc. Biochar has several unique properties, which makes it an efficient, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly material for diverse industrial process development. The variability in physicochemical properties (e.g., surface area, microporosity, and pH) provides an avenue for biochar to maximize its efficacy to targeted applications. My presentation would compile the recent advances of biochar in bioprocess development, focusing important physiochemical attributes and mechanisms pertinent to bioprocess amelioration. Moreover, biochar application rate and methods of these applications would also be outlined. |
