A general and green protocol for the synthesis of multifunctional metal nanoparticles |

Biocompatible hyperbranched polyglycidol (HBP) macromolecule possesses highly branched and globular void-containing topology structure, which makes HBP particularly well-suited for hosting metal nanoparticles (NPs). In our current study, HBP has been demonstrated to be an effective self-reducing and self-stabilizing agent for the synthesis of highly water-soluble monometallic (Au, Ag, Pt, Pd and Ru) and bimetallic (Au/Pt, Au/Pd and Au/Ru) NPs. Note that all the reactions were carried out in water, at room temperature, under normal pressure and no extra surfactants were involved. Therefore, our current study provides a general and green protocol to fabricate metal NPs. This HBP-assisted self-reduction of metal ions follows an analogous polyol process. |
