Detection of Chemical Nerve Agents Using Multi-encoded Rugate Porous Silicon |

Detection of G-type chemical warfare agents is of great interest since they are highly toxic and are a great international concern. In recent years, porous silicon (PSi) multiplayer structures are widely used Si-based optoelectronics which exhibit interesting optical and electrical properties. Triply encoded rugate structures can be etched on a silicon wafer, showing three sharp spectral lines in the optical reflectivity spectrum. Real-time detection for the nerve agents indicates that the detection measurements are reproducible. Detection limit for sensing DMMP based on these chips is 1.49 ppm. |
