Dye-sensitized solar cells have been of great interest in the field of science and technology, due to high efficiency, low-cost and simple fabricational method. Recently, photonic crystals have been used to enhance light-trapping in dye-sensitized solar cells. Herein, we report that effective excitation of Ru dye(N719) based dye-sensitized solar cell via quasi-amorphous photonic crystal intermediate reflector. In contrast to other crystalline photonic materials, we used amorphous photonic materials exhibiting angle-independcent photonic band gaps. Quasi-amorphous photonic materials, which were prepared in imidazolium ionic-liquid by dispersing colloidal nanoparticles, led omnidirectional enhancement of efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells. This system may provide not only a simple preparation of photonic crystal intermediated reflector onto dye-sensitized solar cell but also angle-independency of sunlight to enhance their efficiency. |
