제목 Simple crystallization-based preparation of biomimetic superhydrophobic surfaces for polymers
초록 Preparation methods of polymer surfaces having superhydrophobic characteristics have been studied to broaden their application range. However, it is still so complex to scale up and utilize these methods commercially. In this study, we suggest a more convenient method to make the surfaces of various polymers superhydrophobic. We applied modified Directional Melting Crystallization (DMC) to produce micro sized porous structures having hydrophobic characteristics. We spread a proper solvent on polymer surfaces to dissolve polymer surfaces for a limited time and then crystallized the solvent along a directional temperature gradient. Because the cooling rate of polymer surfaces was found to be a critical factor in determining the hydrophilicity of the resulting surfaces, polymers were cooled at predetermined patterns before this treatment to adjusted freezing rate. We successfully verified the superhydrophobicity of polymer surfaces depending on different freezing rates and polymers.
