Hyperbranched polyglycidol is a multi-branched polymer which is similar to a dendrimer with a large number of hydroxyl groups. This is easier to manufacture than dendrimers, and the large numbers of functional end-groups provide a good platform for biosensor. PCDA(10,12-pentacosadiynoic acid), on the other hand, is one of the materials of great interest in the biosensors due to its color change in response to various external stimuli. In this study 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)propane as an initiator is partially deprotonated with potassium methoxide solution and glycidol monomer undergoes to the ring-opening multi-branching polymerization. Then, PCDA was attached to HBPG using steglich reaction and PCDA was polymerized by UV-light. HBPG-PDA produced in this method showed color change in response to various stimuli, which was confirmed by UV-vis spectra. The synthesized macromolecule is characterized by using fourier transform infrared, 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. |
