제목 Microwave-assisted Hydrolysis of Esters by Silica gel under Solvent-free Conditions
초록 Various esters are commonly used in the synthesis of peptides, alkaloids and other natural products and substrates of medicinal interest. Removal of esters often involves the use of strong protic acids such as trifluoroacetic acid and hydrochloric acid, or Lewis acid such as zinc bromide and silyl triflates. These vigorous conditions can often lead to unwanted side reactions and decomposition of sensitive substrates. Herein we report a microwave-assisted hydrolysis method using silica gel as an efficient reagent for the cleavage of esters without solvents. These mild cleavage conditions broadens the synthetic applications in which protected carboxylates can be utilized.
