The Preparation of Sustained Release of Glibenclamide and Polymers with Improving Dissolution Rate Kinetics |

Glibenclamide (GC) is used for the treatment of diabetes. GC also known as glyburide (USAN), is an antidiabetic drug in a class of medications known as sulfonylureas, closely related to sulfa drugs. The aim of this study is to improve the dissolution rate of GC by solid dispersion. Solid dispersion was formulated by using the water soluble polymer such as PVP, and sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). The analysis of crystallization was analyzed to use XRD, DSC and FT-IR. SEM images indicated morphology of drug, polymer, and prepared solid dispersion. The in vitro test was implemented to confirm characteristic of dissolution of GC solid dispersion in simulated intestinal fluid (pH 6.8). This study showed improvement of dissolution rate of GC by water soluble polymer and spray drying. This research was supported by MIFAFF(112007-05-1-SB010) and the MEST (2012M3A9C6050203). |
