Cell surface display is a technique to display peptides or proteins on the surface of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, fungi, or even mammalian cells by appropriately fusing them to surface anchoring motifs. Surface display systems consist of a carrier protein that acts as an anchoring motif, a passenger protein which plays various roles as a target protein and a host strain. A wide range of applications of the display technology has been reported including bioadsorption, whole-cell biocatalyst, peptide library screening, live vaccine development, antibody production, and biosensors. Here, we demonstrate functional expression of cold adapted amylase on the surface of E. coli and the detailed results will be presented. |
