We carried out real-time bioimaging of hyaluronate interferon alpha(HA-IFNα) conjugated using a biologically inert zwitter ionic fluorophore of ZW800-1 for the treatment of hepatitis C virus infection. The ZW800-1 was labelled on the IFNα of HA-IFNα conjugate to investigate its biodistribution without altering its physicochemical and targeting characteristics. After verifying the biological activity in Daudi cells, we carried out the pharmacokinetic analysis of HA-IFNα conjugate, that of PEGylated IFNthat of PEGylated IFNα. Bioimaging of ZW800-1-labeled HA-IFNα conjugate showed real-time biodistribution. Furthermore, the elevated level of OAS-1 expressing mRNA in the liver confirmed in vivo anti-viral activity of HA-IFNα conjugates.
