Preparation and Characterization of 3D Porous PLCL Support Reinforced with Alendronate for the Acceleration of Bone Tissue Regeneration |

As the elderly population increases, the number of patients suffering from bone/cartilage diseases is rapidly growing. As a result, demands on bone substitutes with a 3D porous support are increasing. In this study, we prepared a highly biocompatible and 3D porous support using polyl(actide acid-co-caprolactone) (PLCL). PLCL is known to be biodegradable, biocompatible, and elastic. In order to improve the biofunctionality of the support, alendronate was incorporated in the scaffold. PLCL was synthesized by copolymerization of lactide acid and caprolacton monomers. The physicochemical properties of the prepared scaffolds were characterized using SEM, EDX, FT-IR and HPLC. Responses of osteoblast to the scaffolds were also analyzed. |
