A novel phosphorus-nitrogen flame retardant, PNFR, was synthesized and its chemical structure was characterized by 1H NMR. To evaluate the flame retarding mechanism of PNFR, FTIR was performed by temperature with furnace. The flame retardancy of the neat and flame retarded polyketone which were prepared via solution casting method was investigated by the vertical burning test. Then, the morphology of char residues was recorded using scanning electron microscope. To investigate the thermal stability, thermogravimetric analysis was conducted. By adding PNFR to polyketone, while thermal stability decreased, char residues significantly increased and superior flame retardancy was shown. Also, we obtained the effect of PNFR on mechanical property and crystallinity of polyketone using universal testing machine and differential scanning calorimetry. |
